My debut novel Batter's Box is officially scheduled to release on June 1st, 2026. I've been spending the past couple of weeks working on editing, making the cover, and crafting some marketing for it. My author copies are ordered. Everything is in the pitching machine, ready to fire over the plate. I'm walking up to the batter's box (lol), ready to swing.
A little look behind the curtain here: June 1st fell into my lap as sort of a perfect date. I had originally planned to have this thing finished and ready to ship out in February. Alas, it took me quite a while to work out the first draft. Still, I'm quite proud of this work, so I don't mind that so much.
What's so great about June 1st? Well, it's a Monday. Books tend to release at the starts of weeks for tabulation reasons. It's not that people are more likely to get home from work on a Monday and buy a book than they are on a Tuesday. Rather, your first week of purchases will count for that week. Whereas if you release on a Friday, your first week will be tabulated over the course of two weeks. Supposedly, this hurts your rankings in algorithms and lists and all that fun stuff you never really want to be focused on when you're writing.
The other great thing about June 1st is that it's the start of Pride Month. What better way to celebrate being gay than by releasing a gay novel filled with gay love (in both meanings of the word)? That seems like a pretty magical date to me~
I hope you'll stay tuned and take a chance on Batter's Box! ^.^
