To Lose a Mother

Can we ever reach an age where we won't need our mother?

After her mother's funeral, a woman returns to her hotel room to grieve. There, she follows that old saying, "Eat your heart out." Most people probably don't mean it so literally, though. So violent. So... desperate.

This contains the script for the ten-minute play, as well as annotations and essays that explore the ideas underlying the script, ranging from musings on Lacanian sublimation to the complex nature of grief.
